Since 1976, the international non-for-profit NGO, Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity (GERES), has been providing sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for a dual purpose: improving the livelihoods and productivity of vulnerable populations, while preserving their natural resources.

Since 1994, GERES operates in Cambodia in the wood and biomass energy sector, and proposes a holistic approach to mitigate the environmental and social impacts of woodfuel extraction on natural resources.  Following its successful interventions in Cambodia, GERES started operations in Myanmar in 2014.
